022: mangoes

Picture
One time,
small and
thinly-sliced ripe mangoes, the kind you put in your
bowl, were cut after a feat with the knife.
How it first looked so easy on YouTube. You tried many times,
but cutting fruit requires expert hands. Then
finally you did it. Perfect cubes.
Thrown shells in the bowl, suck the threads after the juice.
Now they are caught in your teeth
so you can suck them all day. Convenient.

Should I tell you it feels good, I feel chills,
and so also feels damaging
like a cavity.
(Not because I was just talking about teeth, but
the kind of damage that pushes in a cave,
the grin that has no light,
no silver,
no future.)
(Not for you, so not for me.)

I used to kiss with a lot more tongue.
Maybe even lick your face.
Sometimes I don't sit right, when you are looking down at me.
I can only be myself with my bowl-of.
Something looking up at me, after I have cut it.
Such a nice turned table.
Don't blame me for trying.
